In 1966, Bill Cone founded the company that would bear his name after spending 20 years with the local utility company where he received extensive training in technical and management skills. Incorporated as Cone Repair Service in 1968, it has grown from a one-man service truck into a corporation with four locations serving eastern Iowa, western, and central Illinois. In 1997, Bill retired and sold the business to his son Dan, who joined the firm in 1975 right out of technical school to help with the growing business. In 2004, Cone became one of the first service agencies recognized by CFESA, the national trade association for commercial food equipment service, meeting industry requirements and becoming a Certified Company.
